May 2010 Nashville Under Water

Well...we said goodbye to April, only to welcome May with 15 to 17 inches of rain. Most of Middle Tennessee has been under water...considered one of the worst non-hurricane disasters in history. Many friends have lost their homes, cars...everything. Here at Bellevue Antique Mall we are accepting donations of any items that help the less fortunate out. You may drop of linens, toiletries, especially gift cards to Kroger, Walmart, Home Depot, Publix...We need cleaning supplies also. I am at the store Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am till 5pm. Often I ma there early to do paperwork so just drive by or call. There are multiple assitance groups in the area packaging assistance boxes to assit families. Contact Americanredcross.org or HON.org to donate or see where assistance is needed. During the month of June Bellevue Antique Mall will donate 15% of all proceeds to American Red Cross.

Changes Abound In April

I awoke this morning to a day off and March snow flurries....My gut tells me this is the last hoorah for winter, better be...we have too much going on at Bellevue Antique Mall to take time out for inclement weather. This month we saw Caroline Naylor of the Chesire Cat move into the mall...any one seen that early empire burl walnut sofa she brought in...It sits adjacent to the desk and sings the song of a siren daily to me since it's arrival!

The end of the month brings more changes, our long time dealer and friend Paula will be moving out. She has moved to Columbia and is simplifying her life and marrying multiple booths down to a couple of manageable ones closer to home. Behind her Wendy Willis will be moving out along with long-timers Fran and Debbie....we are all going to miss you guys immensely and hope you will return to shop and visit.

Just as the seasons are changing so must we, as we bid adieu, we also welcome new dealers to the shop. Caroline's Mother Ann Crosswy will be coming in, she is a long time collector and actually owns a home on the historic register in Paris, Tennessee...yes it is still filled with a lifetime of collecting. Her home is up for sale as she now downsizes. I've watched her buy for several years now...she has impeccable taste...can't wait to see the treasures she brings to the store! In addition we have Carol Barnes, longtime collector and dealer arriving from Franklin, she is the sister of Letty Fuque...I for one can't wait to see the Napoleon III breakfront I have heard about! Denise Ferguson who shares a booth with Letty will be taking a larger space for her antiques from Franklin also! All in all I feel extremely blessed to have a great group of dealers around, not just fellow recyclers, but true friends....coming or going.

Ahhhh...March ...Spring Is Almost Here!

Well. it is the first day of March...I'm fanatasizing about shorts, mud between my toes and planting flowers. The last two days of the month were very busy....I think everyone is feeling that same sense of restlessness...the need to"feather the nest" if you will. I sold three planters this weekend...and numerous pieces of furniture....spring fever has sprung...All you dealers need to take this opportunity to think spring, gardening and decorating and get on the move to renew and refresh your booth.

Welcome Back Dana Martin

Bellevue Antique Mall is pleased to announce the addition of a "not so new" dealer, Dana Martin.
Dana returns after a long break from the business of collecting and selling. She originally began here at the antique mall in 1995 with Charlotte when we were in the small space that is now the Cottage Cafe. She carries beautiful Dresden, Bavarian porcelain, Huebach bisque, Majolica, Nippon and Limoge, just to name a few of her items! Come and check out her beautiful collection!
